SIAL 6 Conference Announcement

The next SIAL meeting (SIAL 6) will take place in August 2012 in Bogor, Indonesia. Bogor is an ideal venue for the first SIAL meeting to be held in a tropical country, being an important centre for biodiversity research in Indonesia and home to the biological institutes of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). It is also a major tourist destination, its Botanical Garden enjoys worldwide fame. At a distance of just little over one hour from Indonesia's main air hub in Jakarta, Bogor is conveniently accessible from international destinations.

SIAL 5 Call for Papers

As announced during the final session of SIAL 5 in Ohrid, September 2009, the proceedings of the Symposium will be published in a special issue of the journal Hydrobiologia.

Species in Ancient Lakes

In March 1993, an international workshop on "Speciation in Ancient Lakes" was organized in Mont Rigi, Belgium. At this workshop, it was unanimously decided to permanently establish SIAL as an international organization, with the expressed purpose of stimulating interaction between scientists working on ancient lakes.
